Indicated for: Osteoporosis NPS has granted Nycomed, a Takeda company since end of September 2011, the exclusive right to develop and market Preotact® in all non-US territories, excluding Japan and Israel. Preotact® is the brand name that Nycomed uses to market parathyroid hormone 1-84 [rDNA origin] injection. Preotact® was approved in Europe in 2006 and is prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women with a high risk of fractures. In July 2007, the company entered into an agreement with DRI Capital Inc., or DRI (formerly Drug Royalty L.P.3) under which it sold to DRI its right to receive future royalty payments arising from sales of Preotact®. Under the agreement, DRI paid an up-front purchase price of $50 million for the royalty rights. The agreement provides that if DRI receives royalties representing two and a half times the $50 million purchase price, the agreement will terminate and the remaining royalties will revert to NPS. |
