President and Chief Executive Officer
Francois Nader, MD was named president and chief executive officer of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. effective March 17, 2008. Dr. Nader joined NPS in June 2006 and most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for managing the company’s worldwide research and development, commercial operations, manufacturing and regulatory affairs. Before joining NPS, Dr. Nader was a venture partner at Care Capital, LLC and chief medical officer of its Clinical Development Capital unit. Prior experience includes senior vice president, integrated healthcare markets and North America medical and regulatory affairs with Aventis Pharmaceuticals as well as similar positions at Hoechst Marion Roussel. He also served as head of global commercial operations at the Pasteur Vaccines division of Rhone-Poulenc.

Mr. Beshar joined NPS in November 2007. He is a former CFO of various public and private companies and has more than twenty five years of general and financial management experience. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cambrex Corporation, a global life sciences company, and senior vice president and chief financial officer at Dendrite International, a leading provider of services to the life sciences industry. Mr. Beshar began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a certified public accountant, obtained his undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from Michigan State University and is a graduate of The Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.

Alan Harris joined NPS in January 2008 and is responsible for the company's R&D programs. Before joining NPS, Dr. Harris was therapeutic head of Worldwide Medical Endocrine Care at Pfizer and vice president of global health research and outcomes at Schering-Plough Corp. When previously at Novartis, he oversaw the clinical development of the first somatostatin analog, octreotide, for the treatment of rare tumors of the gut and endocrine system. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians, and the Royal Society of Medicine. Dr. Harris was associate professor of medicine at UCLA and holds current academic appointments, including adjunct professor in the department of pharmacology at NYU Medical Center in New York. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles. Dr. Harris received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Strasbourg, France and his Ph.D. in endocrinology from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Brian O’Callaghan joined NPS Pharmaceuticals in October 2007. His responsibilities include managing the company’s marketing, corporate and business development activities, as well as technical operations. Mr. O’Callaghan has a broad industry background within big pharma, biotech and the service sector. Previously, he was general manager of the cardiac safety and IVRS business units at Covance, a global clinical research organization, and North American regional business unit head for infectious diseases and transplantation/immunology at Novartis. Before that he worked in Europe as President & CEO of BioPartners, a biotech company based in Switzerland and various senior positions within Pfizer, Merck KgaA and Bayer.

Sr. Vice President, Legal Affairs and General Counsel
Mr. Rackear joined NPS Pharmaceuticals in July 2007. His prior experience includes vice president and general counsel at Amersham Biosciences Corp. and, most recently, vice president and general counsel at Chugai Pharma, USA. Mr. Rackear received his law degree from New York University and is a member of the New York and New Jersey state bar associations.

Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Drug Safety
Douglas Dobak is responsible for managing the company’s regulatory affairs and drug safety activities. He joined NPS in October 2007 from AstraZeneca where he served in various senior regulatory affairs positions, most recently as executive director, U.S. regulatory affairs, and global vice president, regulatory affairs, respiratory and inflammation area. Previously, he held regulatory affairs leadership positions with Pfizer, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, SmithKline Beecham, DuPont Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Mr. Dobak received his B.S. in biological sciences from Delaware Valley College and his M.S. in biological sciences/business from Seton Hall University. He also completed additional graduate studies at New York University and Widener University School of Law. He also completed Advanced Management training at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business.
